Everyone has their own idea as to what shooting is, you could be from an actual firearms background like the forces or you could be a comeplete beginerer, here we've put together some frequently asked questions:
Shooting like all other sports carries a certain amount of risk. We have some of the strictest laws in the world regarding owning a firearm. Like everything, we have risk assessments in place regarding shooting at our club. For new members you'll have tuition from some of our more experienced members. You'll be shown the corrent way to handle a firearm and how we have flags in place to show everyone you rifle is clear. We are a family orientated club and there's always someone willing to help.
Definitely not, if you are new to shooting you most likely won't have a firearms certificate. We have a few club rifles that can be used for prone TR & Benchrest and a few rifles for shooting LSR. We have spares on most of the kit so you can borrow a jacket, sling, glove, ear defenders and a mat. These are all things you can purchase if the sport's for you, especially when you're waiting on your firearms certificate.
Shooting can be very expensive, that's if you want the best of gear, the best rifle etc. It's like any sport, you can spend as much as you like. But no, the equipment not including a firearm can be expensive but shop around, always things going second hand, also there's always someone handing something down. (I'm still using a jacket I got for free years ago)
I think for someone that's never shot before it would be best to come along on a few nights, see what it's all about and then think about joining from there. Get in touch with the club secretary and organise a few nights and come along.
Definitely not, I have shot with girls all the way back to when I was in cadets 20 years ago, and to be honest I've been getting beat most of the time. One of the Ladies from my full bore club is the best shot in the club. So no, shooting is open to everyone.
I will look into this

Club Shoot 1
24th March 2024
Our first club shoot of 2024 was well attended by members and we also welcomed some members of Cawdor Rifle & Gun Club. The weather was kind to us with more sunny intervals than showers but the temperature was still too cold for for shirt-sleeve order. Target systems worked well and the target frames looked all the better for the recent welding work carried out.
Disciplines We Shoot
Fire and Kinross Fullbore Rifle Club (FKFRC) shoots three disciplines which are described in the NRA Handbook plus one Club based discipline, TRF. High Muzzle Energy (HME) is not permitted at FKFRC shoots. If a magazine is fitted it is to be used as a loading platform for single shot shooting in all disciplines.
The requirements for each discipline are set out below.
Target Rifle (TR)
Maximum weight of rifle is 6.25 kg and the minimum trigger pull is 1.5kg. Rifles are chambered in .308W or .223 Rem, the bullet weight is unrestricted.
Shot on the NRA TR target.
At Scottish Target Shooting we have a small team of paid staff to help us develop the sport and serve our members. There are three members of staff working from the STS Office based in Edinburgh.

Forfar's Small Bore Rifle Club:
The range construction was of simple design with a single brick walled range with a wooden clubhouse attached to the firing point end. The range has been little altered except in 1988 when the clubroom was extended to the east to add a secure gunroom and armoury along with a pair of large storage areas which now form the 6 yard air pistol range. The clubroom and range was re-roofed in 1997 with the assistance of a grant from Angus District Council, as the original corrugated iron roof had rusted around the securing nails and was letting in water.
The list of clubs is also displayed below organised by County and contains the following information:-
